Stone Pro TB4 & ProDock FAQ
No separate driver installation is required.
Our Thunderbolt-based docking stations are built on Intel’s reference design. This means they receive ongoing support and updates automatically through your computer’s regular operating system updates whether you’re using Windows or macOS.
Keeping your system up to date ensures your docking station remains fully compatible and performs at its best. Both the ProDock and Stone Pro TB4 support up to two external displays when connected to a compatible laptop.
-
MacBooks with M3, M4, or M1–M4 Pro/Max chips: Support up to two external displays.
-
MacBooks with the base M1 or M2 chip: Limited by Apple’s design to one external display only, which also limits the docking station to a single display in these cases.
For Windows laptops, the number of supported external displays can vary by manufacturer and graphics capabilities. We recommend checking your laptop’s specifications to confirm multi-display support.
-
The ProDock and Stone TB4 don't feature HDMI or DP ports to allow compatibility with modern displays and to offer additional flexibility by providing more USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 ports.
To connect an HDMI or DP monitor use a compatible USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DP cable. For MacBook, please ensure the following settings are properly set:
-
Choose the Apple menu > System Settings.
-
Click Sound - Output.
-
Select the option available under “Type” as “USB”.
If you are still experiencing issues, unplug all the cables from your ProDock and shut down or reboot your MacBook. After a minute, reconnect the cables and dock your MacBook.
-
-
Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Network/Network Preferences.
-
Make sure that the docking station is listed at the top and remove any unused connections
-
Renew your DHCP and restart your MacBook.
If you are still experiencing issues, unplug all the cables from your ProDock and shut down or reboot your MacBook. After a minute, reconnect the cables and dock your MacBook.-
Yes. Both the Apple Pro Display XDR (6K) and the Apple Studio Display (5K) are fully supported, with up to two displays connected simultaneously.
Support for resolutions higher than dual 4K at 60Hz requires monitors that are DSC-enabled (Display Stream Compression). If you plan to use higher-resolution displays, please confirm with your display manufacturer that your model supports DSC when connected to an Apple MacBook.
ProDock FAQ
macOS updates may reset the “Allow accessories to connect” setting back to its default (Always Ask). If your dock is not detected after updating, please recheck and adjust the setting:
-
Open the Apple menu > System Settings.
-
Select Privacy & Security.
-
Scroll down to “Allow accessories to connect” and set the option to Always.
-
First, confirm that your MacBook settings allow the dock to connect properly:
-
Open the Apple menu > System Settings.
-
Select Privacy & Security.
-
Scroll down to “Allow accessories to connect”, then set the option to Always.
Additionally, note that a MacBook cannot output to an external display in clamshell mode (with the lid closed) unless a mouse and keyboard are connected. You can pair them via Bluetooth or connect them directly to the ProDock before docking your MacBook.
-
Certain non-Apple displays that are connected using a Thunderbolt cable might occasionally fail to communicate a wake signal to your MacBook when connected to a docking station.
In such cases we recommend using a USB-C to HDMI or DP cable to connect your displays.
